Handle replies so sequences stop

A reply stops the sequence. The thread lands in Inbox. Label it, reply as yourself, or mark Not interested to suppress them workspace-wide.

·Updated ·2 min read

A LinkedIn or email reply lands in Inbox and follow-ups do not fire. Home shows an INBOX attention row.

See Inbox and Safety for the product overview. Skip vs DNC on Review is in Review flags and hold to launch. The Replied? graph node is in Build a LinkedIn and email sequence.

Stop is automatic

Message replies are near real time. When they reply on LinkedIn or email, the sequence stops and the thread appears in Inbox. There is no "pause on reply" toggle; stop-on-reply is the default.

Accepts are not the same as replies. "They accepted" can take hours to show, which is why sequences wait days on Accepted your invite? Slow accept detection is a LinkedIn lag, separate from Inbox speed.

Invite-note replies without accepting

LinkedIn can open a chat from the connection note before they are a connection. We still treat that as a reply and stop. Do not assume they are now a 1st-degree connection. Message steps that require a relation may still wait for a real accept path elsewhere in the graph.

Inbox filters

All · Needs reply · Unread · Archived, plus LinkedIn / Email / account filters.

Needs reply is the daily job. Open /inbox?filter=needs_reply when Home points you there. There are no tasks in Inbox. Do not look for a task queue or assignment board.

Reply as yourself

Send from the same LinkedIn or email identity the campaign used, into the existing thread when we have it. You are in the conversation. The sequencer is not ghostwriting behind you after they reply.

Use labels once you know the outcome, or mark Not interested when you never want another touch.

Labels (outcomes)

  • Interested
  • Neutral
  • Not now
  • Not interested (applies workspace do-not-contact for LinkedIn and email)

Skip on Review is campaign-only. DNC is workspace-wide and shared across senders in the workspace. Manage the list under Settings → Suppression list (/settings/dnc).

If someone is on DNC and you try to enroll them later, Review shows On DNC list. Remove them from the suppression list only when you want to allow outreach again.

Email opens and bounces

Opens are a pixel-based estimate, labeled honestly. Bounces surface on the action. We do not show link clicks. Opens are a weak signal; replies are the one that matters.

If a send failed

Open the Actions ledger: retry, skip, or archive. Home links failed actions to /actions?status=failed. That is enough for day-to-day recovery without a full Actions walkthrough.

If it feels like they replied but the sequence is still stuck:

  1. Confirm the thread is labeled and the prospect is no longer scheduled
  2. Check failed actions if a send never left
  3. Check invite-accept lag if you expected a Message step after accept (not Inbox)

Launch your first campaign covers the empty-Home path. Add the right people to a campaign covers roster imports after you are live.
